2014 welcomes the third instalment of Lusofonia Games, and this time around the venue is none other than our dearly beloved Goa itself!

What Are Lusofonia Games?

Held once in every four years, Lusofonia Games witnesses athletes from Portuguese-speaking countries and territories competing against one another for the highly coveted medals.

Participating Countries In Lusofonia Games

Initiated in 2006, Lusofonia Games has athletes from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Macau (China), Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea, India and Sri Lanka participating in athletic events such as Athletics, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Football, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball and Wushu.

Lusofonia Games 2014 – Goa

The 2014 Lusofonia Games are to be held in Goa and the venues finalized for the various sports events are as follows:

  • Fatorda Stadium in Margão – opening and closing ceremonies; first venue for football

  • GMC Complex in Bambolim and Miramar Road in Panaji – athletics

  • Goa University in Taleigão – basketball and volleyball

  • Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama – second venue for football

  • Multi-purpose stadium (Coberta) in Peddem – judo, taekwondo, table tennis, and wushu

  • Miramar Beach in Panaji – beach volleyball
