Goa’s Conscious Fashion Festival highlights sustainable trends

17 & 18 November, 2017

House No. 248 Bella Vista, Chogm Road, Sangolda, Bardez

This two-day event lead by Alliance Francaise will strengthen existing ties between our local culture and francophone communities by driving a dialogue on the ecological issues that concern both, India and France.

The textile industry happens to be among the top five major polluters in the world. Since India supplies a lot of clothes to the French markets, it is clearly the need of the hour for the two countries to find a better base for the fashion industry to thrive on.

This fashion festival will attempt to do precisely that – create an awareness about the need for healthier practices in the textile industry. They will also acknowledge those who are already on the path to creating a safer, greener and cleaner future for fashion and we hope to help people realize that a thriving industry will only be successful when it has a plan for its future.

What does the Conscious Fashion Festival seek to achieve?

This festival will attempt to create a platform for textile makers, environmentalists, designers and others, to come together and pave a sustainable future for the fashion industry. The aim is to foster a discussion that will surface viable solutions to make fashion both socially and environmentally conscious.

On the first day, which is open by invitation and registration, numerous experts and professionals will voice their ideas on this matter. The second day,  which is open to the public, will include workshops, pop-up stores, a fashion show and concert.

As Alliance Francaise invites a wider audience to discuss the concept of conscious consumption and sustainable fashion for the very first time, they have slated to tackle a range of pressing topics such as the science of mobilizing mass-market brands as well as the use of sustainable materials and technology in fashion supply chains.

In coming years, the festival hopes to scale conscious fashion awareness to schools and communities everywhere.
