Prana Cafe is a tasteful surf inspired cafe with delicious healthy fare, easy cool ambience, and friendly staff in the Vaayu ‘village’. Found across the road from Mandrem beach, its hipster roots helps break it away from the countless other ‘Jamaica/Hawaii’ beach shacks in the area.
Delicious, light and medium portions. A relatively wide range, made from mostly locally sourced ingredients. Priced fairly and below comparable cafes in Panjim and South Goa.
Allergen friendly options are not easy to identify, but there are options on the menu. Almond and coconut milk based smoothies for emergencies. If you’re allergic to something, the staff don’t necessarily check, so make sure you do. We ordered a seemingly gluten free ‘Spicy Coconut Zaika’ bowls with kingfish and it arrived with batter-fried chunks. Our fault for not checking or specifying.
Plenty of art on the walls, with tasteful music in the background. Sit on the easy chairs in the sand out back, or head upstairs to the terrace overlooking Mandrem beach.
The staff are friendly, courteous (rare among modern / healthy cafes in Goa for reasons unknown) and go the extra mile. They didn’t know we were writing a review.
The cafe doesn’t sell or serve bottled water and neither do they serve water at your table (the latter we would prefer not). Good intentions (and lots of posters) about ocean conservation.
Prana is a cafe within ‘Vaayu’. Vaayu offers surfing, kite surfing and paddle boarding classes and courses. Ranging from a few hundred rupees for a class to Rs 25,000 for a full course.
