Things to do in Goa in February

Every month brings with it some amount of dread along with a lot of anticipation, it’s a chance to start a new, leaving behind everything that happened in the previous month. I personally believe a month is what any specific person makes it. However, February has a history of bringing some amount of stress with it, especially for all the couples.

Here is a brief compilation of the happenings in the month of February in and around the tiny state of Goa.

Valentines Day

A day in the year, that single men and women are constantly reminded of their relationship status. Couples, on the other hand, have to try their best to better what they handled the previous year, safe to say, valentine’s day is a bittersweet day for most people.

Here are some small, last minute plans to whip together to make the day a little special.

The Three Kings Chapel

The chapel located in Cansaulim provides an amazing view of the greenery around, along with the ‘I’m-on-top-of-the-world’ feeling. It also has stories about being haunted which somehow adds to its appeal.

Vivanta by Taj

Not something I would recommend for every other day, but valentine’s day is the one day that raises the bar. Having a romantic meal at the Taj would definitely help score some points

Hollant beach

With almost no people, this secluded beach, with perfect blue waters, makes the best location for a date on this special day

Difficult Dialogues

Difficult dialogues is an annual conference, that goes through some vital issues affecting India and South Asia. This year the event will span from the 9th to the 11th of February. It will take place at the International Centre Goa, along with some of the sessions at Goa University.

If attendees are looking for intensive discussions between people like policymakers, academics, and civil society, to politicians, and leaders from media, business and international organisations as well as rising young leaders, this is the place to be.

This year, they are working with their main theme of Gender. They believe this topic greatly affects Indian and many other parts of South Asia.

The FabLab Show

India’s first science theatre is finally here. The FabLabShow are a couple of Live Fun Science Stage Shows that travel across the country. The main aim of this event is to inspire teachers and students to act on science and work on all that they learn.

The event is made up of 90 minutes of exciting science-based content where the audience will see science in action. Since most Indian schools focus on good grades through rote learning, students aren’t always capable when it comes to practical knowledge of what they learned. That is what this show is trying to achieve.

Each show is made up of about 12 experiments and presentations, divided into four quarters. The event will launch on the 13th of February at 11 am in Margao, South Goa.

Goa Carnival 2018

Introduced by the then Portuguese rule as a part of their culture and celebration, the Goa Carnival is a festival of joy, merriment with lots of colours and jazz. The streets of Goa come alive with an array of eclectic floats and people dressed up in colourful costumes with or without any significance. One can get to see a glimpse of the Goan arts and culture through its dance forms and music displayed at the Carnival in Goa. This year the Goa Carnival will take place from 10th to 13th of February starting from the capital city- Panjim. Here are the dates of Carnival happening in other cities within Goa:

10 February – Panjim City (Route has been changed to the Miramar-Donapaula Jack de Sequeira Road)
